Moving On

This is one of the most amazing animated music videos I've seen! I love stop motion and the way this particular one has been made.

Getting back into life drawing

The two sheets above were the first drawings I did as I got back into the hand of drawing from life. I was happy with how they turned out for a first attempt. We spent around 15 minutes on each pose.

The next two sheets are quick drawings of poses that only lasted 2 minutes.

The sheet on the left also has 2 minute drawings, however we were challenged to do this with our opposite hand. I found it difficult to get the correct shape but managed to show the overall gesture. The final sheet shows drawings where we weren't allowed to look. For the top two I wasn't allowed to look at the page while I drew and for the one at the bottom I had to look at the model for 2 minutes and then draw without referring to the model. I found these tasks challenging but fun to see what I could achieve by drawing in different ways. They were also highly amusing!

Smokey fire kitty

This is the first drawing that I came up with after having a break from doing any work. I'm quite happy with how it turned out; I like the contrast in colours which is why I named it a smokey fire kitty! I might develop this further to create a character from it.

Dynamic poses and doodles

Practising different poses over Christmas watching how family sit and how people move on Strictly Come Dancing and exaggerating poses.

Block push

This was the most difficult assignment so far as the IKFK switch was confusing as well as showing progression by creating playblasts of different steps. I think I definitely need to try this again from the beginning even if it's just to get a better understanding but I'd like to create a better animation of a man pushing a block.

Throwing balls

This project was to use a parent constraint to attach the ball to the rigs hand to show them moving together. I found this assignment very difficult as I seemed to be affecting the constraint I created because I had a motion trail on the ball and I needed to step the constraint. After I worked this all out the animation of the rig was fairly easy to do. I think it could still be improved.
My aim for this was to make a baby reach out to pick up a ball like a baby would but then suddenly change character and act like an adult/throw back like a more experienced person for a comical effect. I think it sort of shows it but I can improve this by exaggerating the movements.
