Faces and heads - life drawing

First drawing of the session to see how well we could draw the shape of a head.

Practising drawing the structure of the skull and the head without detail.

We also had a go at drawing the skull and face using a square, and geometric shapes.

 Final drawing at the end of the session.

More inspiration

A friend suggested this video as inspiration to help bring out the despair and desolation of the steaks.

It was also helpful in creating a short storyline for my idea.

Steaks?

For our "pick n mix" project we were given four cards, style, setting, character and show type and we have to come up with an idea for a show using these cards. 

I was given art deco for style, The World Trade Center for setting, meat products as characters and all in the form of a music show.

I've been having trouble trying to come up with an idea for this, however have looked at some existing animations with meat products in such as Sausage Party. 

I also found Steak animation  a company in France who create some fun foody animations and I really like their style of animation!

Cartoon Saloon

I have just recently watched Song of the Sea (dir. Tomm Moore) for the first time and thought it one of the most beautiful animations I've ever seen, the backgrounds, the animation, the story itself - Irish folklore is incredibly beautiful! I was in awe when I watched The Secret of Kells last year, Cartoon Saloon have a wonderful style and amazing storytelling.

More life drawing

The first drawing we did in this session we were't allowed to look at our drawing while we drew which was an interesting warm up.

The second drawing we did we only drew for 2 minutes on our own drawing and then we moved on around the room and drew on each others drawings and this was the outcome.

The two pages above are sketches showing motion while the model walked around the room so we could try to capture dynamic shapes of a person walking and standing in different positions.

The last drawing was a five minute sketch
