More life drawing!

These drawings were from my life drawing session yesterday. In this session we used a knitting needle to measure the proportions of the model to make sure the drawing ended up in the right proportion so I decided to focus on the overall shape rather than focussing on adding any or much texture. The first two drawings worked well as I managed to use the needle to grasp the proportion of the model standing up, however when the model sat down and moved into different positions it got a little more complicated. Hopefully with practise I can improve this!

Smoke

To show "whip and wave" we created smoke in 2D. I used ToonBoom to create this, I think it worked well and I'm pretty happy with the result for my first attempt.

Monty can walk!

This assignment was completed using Maya. The task was to make Monty walk and have something catch his eye as he's walking. I thought it would be funny to make the end of the path catch his eye so he doesn't fall off the edge. We also had to keyframe two different camera angles which was confusing to begin with but with practise it will make more sense!

Squirrels

Using Flash to animate a squirrel jumping. This was to show a jump/run rather than a bounce and to show follow through of the tail.

Do u even lift bro

For this assignment we had to show weight of an object by animating a character lifting a heavy object. To help me grasp the concept I used a stick man to focus on the movement and shifting of weight rather than keeping the shape of the character. I would like to come back to this and have another attempt using a character with more body.

Head turns and toe touches

My second stop motion assignment using these (very creepy looking) puppets was to animate it turning its head and touching its toes. I think the toe touch could be improved as its hands were too close to the ground and didn't really swing much. The head turn could also be improved by having a bit more of a dip to show the head turning.

Introduction to Toon Boom - Hand Turn

When I began this assignment I found it very difficult to grasp ToonBoom but I eventually got the hang of it and drew all the key frames in rough. Once I had the movement right I went back and tidied up the drawings.

Life Drawing

These three images were drawings from my first life drawing session.

The image on the left shows is a series of 3-5 minute drawings in my second life drawing session to show the different dynamic poses. The drawings on the right were trying to capture the weight of the model as he leant on the chair.

The first drawing of the three show negative space around the character, the second drawing was an attempt to show weight on the left side of the body as the model was holding a heavy object. I could have improved this by showing tension in the muscles in the left shoulder and left leg. The final drawing is the one I was most happy with as I think I captured the shape of the cloth on the model fairly well.
